The story of Crook is about Jai (Emraan Hashmi), who has a knack of getting into trouble. His Father was a gangster who wanted to reform. On assurance from his friend Inspector Joseph, Jai’s father agreed to rat on his evil bosses. Inspector Joseph guaranteed him that he would find Jai’s father and Jai a safe passage into the world of good once his bosses have been exposed. But the unexpected happened. Jai witnessed the fatal double cross on his father, despite his confession, by a senior police officer. Joseph’s valiant effort to save him went in vain.
The Story:Crook: It's Good To Be Bad is a Hindi action thriller that stars Emran Hashmi, Bollywood newcomer Neha Sharma and Arjan Bajwa. The movie was produced by Mukesh Bhatt and directed by Mohit Suri. The movie was shot in Australia and tells the story of Indian students who suffered racism and violent race related attacks in the country throughout 2009.
In Crook: It's Good To Be Bad, Emraan Hashmi portrays an Indian boy from a middle class family who moves to Australia to achieve his goals; make more money and have a better life. He's not always very honest and doesn't shy away from criminal behavior in order to get what he wants.
Neha Shamra on the other hand portrays a girl who grew up in Australia and who is trying to appease the tense relationship between the Australian and Indian communities. There is a love story involved between the movie's two stars, but Emran will also be seen kissing an Australian girl!
The movie was inspired by a real-life experience as director Mohit Suri found about racist attacks on Indian students in Melbourne when he visited a grocery store in the Sunshine district.

What Worked:
The subject of racial attacks in Australia is approached sensitivley. The main focus in the first half of the film is the romance between Emraan and Neha, therefore, politics are merely a subplot. There is palpable chemistry between the lead couple that puts on an impressive performance.

Pritam plays it safe with the music. There are staple tunes on the soundtrack; some dance vibes and romantic ballads. Despite the variety in songs, the soundtrack is not memorable and neither of the tracks will make it to the charts.

Slated or Rated:
Crook: It's Good to be Bad is a decent movie. The acting is bearable and the story has its highlights. At the same time, the performances are not award winning and there is plenty of room for this script to improve. The mediocre film will soon come out on DVD so there's no need to rush to the theater.
